Target healing priests, cast slap

The 3.2 patch notes are out and notable by their rather blunt and brief address of priests:
  • Prayer of Healing: The percentage of spell power this spell gains in healing (per target) has been reduced from 80.7% to 52.6%.
  • Penance: Cooldown increased to 12 seconds, up from 10 seconds.
  • Inspiration: The buff from this ability now reduces the physical damage taken by the target by 3/7/10% instead of increasing the target's armor.
Ouch and ouch. The third bullet may or may not be awful, someone put me out of my misery.

And that's it? Shadow? Not even on the radar.

Oh didn't see these. My thoughts,

* Prayer of Healing - probably justified
* Penance - bit rude for Disc. I have no idea about PvP but probably not needed for PvE.
* Inspiration - i'm pretty sure this is a buff. The old one generally granted about 5% damage reduction via the armour increase.

Gobble gobble.

I assume there's more coming for spriests... there's gotta be.

Yeah I keep telling myself that but i don't think i really believe it... Just one acknowledgement that they even know of shadows issues would make my day... le sigh.

the penance nerf makes no sense to me. they are basically bringing things back to the way they were before 3.10 with the only difference that disc now has no 'extra' major glyph slot open for glyph or renew or prayer of healing. if blizz thought that 6 sec panance is so overpowered why didn't they remove the glyph from the game and at least give us some options.

You forgot that resiliance will now lower all damage, not just crits and dots. This is possibly the biggest spriest pvp buff there is.

Having healed all of Ulda up to Yogg as disc priest these are my thoughts on the changes.

- Prayer of Healing nerf is not really justified. It's the only real effective group heal a disc priest has at his disposal (and the really awesome holy nova <3). I know Disc priests shouldn't be group healing but say on fights like Mimiron it's a god send especially with our crit. The mana cost of this spell alone is horrible so changing the effective healing makes it less atractive.
- Penance change is a PVP change. I can't see it having much of an impact on PVE. I still haven't been in a situation where I am spamming penance when it's off CD. I do it more by habit to build up Divine Aegis then anything. Maybe i am lucky in that our MT is superbly geared and i spend good portions of fights using Smite (1.4k DPS on XT hehe)

- Inspiration change overall is a buff. The reason it was changed was the humble DK. They were achieving pretty much the armor cap by having this buff on them constantly and from talents. Without specifically gearing for high armor gear they were taking minimal damage and became the gimmick tanks for the likes of General, guilds could easily heal through the kiting phase with the imba armor and CD's the DK had. Any other guild with a non DK as their MT had to kite or have enough raid balance to rotate cooldowns like PS and GS to survive it.

And like you observed absolutely no mention of shadow (except the replenishment nerf). I haven't been shadow since 3.1 came out and could count on one hand the times i DPSed in Ulda. Back in Naxx 25 i was top 3 DPS, on the rare DPS goes i am getting now i am labouring around 8th-10th in similar gear levels to those above me (i'm still picking up DPS pieces!!). I can't wait to go back shadow full time but part of me wants to stay Disc because i am performing a brilliant role and giving more to the raid team then i can ever hope for as shadow. Mega shields and less dmg all round Vs average DPS, +hit and replenishment.....oh wait....other classes bring that and above average DPS :S
